Social media commentator and activist VeryDarkMan (real name Martins Otse) appeared in court today as part of ongoing proceedings involving allegations of cyberbullying and online harassment.
VeryDarkMan has been charged with multiple counts under the cybercrime laws, following accusations that he targeted several popular entertainment personalities with defamatory posts. Among those named in the suit are Iyabo Ojo, Tonto Dikeh, and music producer Samklef.
During today’s session at the Federal High Court in Abuja, held before Justice Musa Liman, VeryDarkMan stood alongside his lawyer, pleaded not guilty to all charges, and requested that his existing bail conditions remain in force. The prosecution did not object.
The judge granted the bail request and re-scheduled the next hearing, adding yet another chapter to what has become one of Nigeria’s most closely watched cyberbullying and defamation cases.
The renewed spotlight on this trial highlights the increasing crackdown on online defamation in Nigeria and raises questions about the limits of free speech, social-media activism, and accountability in the age of digital influence.
